Exclusive VIDEO - Peruvian Americans participated at Independence Day Parade 2009 in Washington DC
Peruvians in the United States, there are more than a million according to some sources - including those undocumented immigrants who might be at least half of the community. This year, three Peruvian dances schools represented the thriving Peruvian American community at the Independence Day Parade in Washington, DC, celebrating the 233 anniversary of the American union.
This year Peru was represented in the 4th of July Parade by two dances from our Indigenous peoples of the Amazon region and from our Afro Peruvian heritage. This video shows part of the spectacular performances presented by the Peruvians schools students who came from Virginia, Maryland and Connecticut.
Well done Grupo Folklorico Ritmos de Peru,
Mamauca, and Centro Cultural Tradiciones Peruanas!
