URGENT ACTION NEEDED! Police Massacre of Indigenous Protesters in the Peruvian Amazon Linked to US-Peru FTA. This week, Peruvian officials have met with the USTR in Washington for discussions on FTA implementation. We need to send a strong message to our government that we stand with the indigenous people of the Peruvian Amazon and reject the killing and destruction which current U.S. free trade policies promote.

1. Immediately cease all violent repression of indigenous protests and lift the State of Emergency
2. Initiate an impartial investigation into the events of June 5 at the Devil's Curve near Bagua Chica.
3. Repeal the Free Trade Laws that allow oil, logging, and agricultural corporations easy entry into indigenous territories.
4. Respect indigenous peoples' constitutionally guaranteed rights to self-determination, to their ancestral territories, and to prior consultation.

ACTION ALERT: Canada must halt free trade agreement with Peru: We need you to write to the Senate immediately and ask them to send the Canada—Peru FTA back to Parliament for reconsideration. The Senate cannot be allowed to rubber stamp this deal, which legitimizes state repression for the sake of boosting the profits of Canada’s oil patch and major mining companies.
