Mamauca Afro Peruvian dance and music school in Washington DC

Mamauca is an Afro Peruvian dance and music group based in Washington, DC, created by Elena Barrueto and her children and friends.

Although most of its members are young Peruvian Americans and live in Northern Virginia -and thanks to its quality and professionalism- this wonderful group keeps growing and is always holding auditions for new dancers, regardless of age and nationalities.

I recorded this video at the Embassy of Peru in Washington, DC during an event honoring Afro Peruvian musician Carlos 'Caitro' Soto, which was organized by DC-based Peruvian musician Billy Castillo, last October 22, 2008.
