Peruvian Festivals in Virginia and Washington, DC celebrating Peru's National Day

Several events have been programmed in the metropolitan area of Washington, DC to celebrate Peru's National Day. Everyone is welcome to participate, especially Peruvian immigrants, Peruvian Americans and friends of Peru.

We gather to honor and remember our first country commemorating the 187th anniversary of its independence.

Free and open to the public

A forty-five minutes ceremony raising the flags of Peru, the US and the city of Washington, DC. including a showcase of traditional music and dances from Peru as part of the official program. This ceremony would be attended by members of the Embassy of Peru, diplomatic corps, members of the US Congress and Senate, members of the Peruvian American community in Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland, as well as elected officials nationwide.


Peruvian Independence
at the White House

Thursday July 24, 2008
2:00 pm.

By invitation only

Over a hundred prominent Peruvian Americans and members of the United States Congress, the executive branch, and elected officials from across the United States and members of the Peruvian Embassy in Washington, DC. An program of Peruvian music and dances will be presented.

Details about both events at the White House and Freedom Plaza are yet to be confirmed.

Hosted and organized by the
Peruvian American National Council (PANC) a non-partisan, private, non-profit organization seeking to promote inclusive civic participation and to advance the interest of the Peruvian American community through persistent activism and advocacy to improve opportunities for all people of Peruvian origin in the United States.

This event includes a Peruvian Horse Show, Peruvian food and music with live performances of singer Nancy Lituma, guitar player Manuel Ercilla and Mamauca Afro Peruvian Dances School.
