El Centro para la Educación y el Desarrollo Humano Manuel Zapata Olivella y la Iglesia Metodista Unida Wesley de Washington, DC organizaron un evento cultural el pasado 19 de mayo, para reunir fondos para los desplazados de El Charco, Nariño en Colombia. Los fondos serán parte de un esfuerzo internacional de Church World Service.
Photo: Church World ServiceMás de 1600 familias de El Charco se encuentran con una importante necesidad de alimentos, medicinas y agua potable. La mayoría de ellos son afro descendientes e indígenas, el 48% son niños menores de 12 años de edad y las mujeres y niños conforman el 78% de los desplazados. Ellos están dejando sus hogares escapando de la violencia generada por los combates entre el gobierno y las fuerzas rebeldes. La gente de El Charco necesita de nuestra ayuda.
CWS esta buscando apoyo financiero para dos envíos, los que incluyen la distribución de alimentos básicos (incluyendo arroz, frijoles, aceite de cocina, atún enlatado y otros) así como, tanques de 1.000 litros de agua y 25 equipos de salud.

The Manuel Zapata Olivella Center for the Education and Human Development and Wesley Methodist United Church in Washington, DC. organized a cultural event on May 19, 2007 to raise funds for the displaced people of organizaron un evento cultural para reunir fondos para los desplazados de El Charco, Nariño in Colombia. The funds collected will be part of an international effort from Church World Service.
Over 1.600 families from El Charco are in a huge need of food, medicine and drinkable water. Most of them are Afro descendant and Indigenous peoples, 48% are children younger than 12 years old, and 78% of them are women and children. They are leving their homes behind escaping the fightings between the Colombian government and rebel forces. The people of El Charco, Narino needs of your help.
CWS is seeking support for two shipments, which includes the distribution of food items (including rice, beans, cooking oil, canned tuna an other items) as well as, 1,000-liter water tanks and 25 health kits.
